Mission Statement
The Sadhu Vaswani Centre (SVC) seeks to bear witness to the truth that there is but One life flowing in all – men, birds, animal, things, animate and inanimate.
SVM believe that life must have a spiritual orientation and promotes the practice of kirtans (group chanting), prayer, meditation and above all, living for others. The others are not apart from us. They are all part of the One Whole.
Sadhu Vaswani believed profoundly in the unity of races and religions in the One Spirit. “There are so many,” he said, “who can believe only one thing at a time. I am so made as to rejoice in the many and behold the beauty of the One in the many. Hence my natural affinity to many religions. In them all I see revelations of the One Spirit.”
The symbol that you see is a synthesis of the symbols of the major religions of the world: At its center is the sacred Om, adjoining which is The Cross of the Christian Faith, The Star and Crescent of the Islamic Faith. Around this is The Sun, worshipped through by the Hindus.
Sadhu Vaswani awakened many with his clarion call:
“Build ye a bridge of brotherhood between East and West.”
And he declared: “Children of the Earth. Ye all are one!”
